ModulatorConsole Firmware: How to Upgrade to New Firmware

1. Download ftp://ftp.teleview.com/TVB59X_QT_599LAN/TVB599LAN.BIN file.

2. Execute the ModulatorConsoleRemote icon on the desktop of the PC.

3. Click TVB599LAN[xx...xxxx] button to connect TVB599/LAN v3/v4.

4. Click [Remote] button and [Firmware upgrade...] button on ModulatorConsole.

5. Click [File...] button and open the TVB599LAN.BIN file.

6. Click [Start] button.

7. After TVB599/LAN v3/v4 copy the TVB599LAN.BIN file, ModulatorConsoleRemote will be closed and TVB599/LAN v3/v4 Red LED will turn on. Never power off the TVB599/LAN v3/v4 on overwriting firmware. Green LED will turn on after firmware upgrade. (It takes 8~9 minutes)

8. After you upgrade, click TVB599LAN[xx...xxxx] button to connect TVB599LAN.

ModulatorConsole Firmware: How to Recover Corrupted Using SD Memory Card

1. Prepare SD memory card or SDHC or SDXC memory card.

2. Format the SD memory card from the PC to FAT32 file system. Do not use an NTFS file system.

3. Make a folder "recov" on the top directory of the SD memory card.

4. Download ftp://ftp.teleview.com/TVB59X_QT_599LAN/TVB599LAN.BIN. Then, put to "recov" folder under the root folder of SD memory card.

5. Turn off the TVB599/LAN and install the above SD memory card into TVB599LAN.

6. Turn on the power of TVB599/LAN. It will recover firmware automatically. Green LED will turn on after firmware upgrade. (It takes 8~9 minutes)

7. Try to connect to it using ModulatorConsole remote.8. If this process does not fix, we will need to get the modulator back to us for a factory repair.

ModulatorConsole Firmware: How to Boot and Recover Not-Working Firmware Using SD Memory Card (when above step does not work)

1. Prepare 32 or 64bit Linux PC and SD memory card or SDHC or SDXC memory card.

2. Format the SD memory card from the PC to FAT32 file system. Do not use an NTFS file system.

3. Download the file from ftp://ftp.teleview.com/TVB59X_QT_599LAN/recov/TVB599LAN_SD_Fusing.tar.gz.

4. tar -xvzf TVB599LAN_SD_Fusing.tar.gz to uncompress the contents on the Linux PC.

5. cd TVB599LAN_SD_Fusing on the Linux PC.

6. sudo ./makerecovsdcard.sh /dev/xxx

On "/dev/xxx", xxx is SD card device name recognized on the Linux PC.

ex> sudo ./makerecovsdcard.sh /dev/sdc to build the file system on SD memory card and copy the firmware to SD memory card. 7. Turn off the power of TVB599/LAN and open the case of TVB599/LAN and find 6 circuit DIP switch next to CPU module.

8. Move DIP switch 1 to UP position and switch to DOWN position (UP is the closer position to the CPU module, DOWN is the far position from the CPU module).

9. Turn on the power of TVB599/LAN. SD memory card will be used to boot.

10. Allow 10 minutes to boot and copy new firmware to internal flash memory from SD memory card.

11. Turn off the power of TVB599/LAN and move the DIP switch 1 to DOWN position, switch 2 to UP position (original position).

12. Turn on the power of TVB599/LAN.

13. Try to connect to it using ModulatorConsole remote.

14. Adjust network environment of PC to be compatible with TVB599/LAN v3/v4.

15. If this process does not fix, we will need to get the modulator back to the factory for repair.

16. This procedure can be used to upgrade old TVBManager firmware to new ModulatorConsole firmware.

TVBAgent Firmware: How to Upgrade Firmware from TVBManager

1. Execute the TVBManager.

2. Click [Tool] button on TVBManager, and [UPGRADE FIRMWARE] button.

3. Click [File] button.

4. Select [TVB599LAN_V#.#.#.TOT] file.

5. Click [Upgrade] button.

6. TVB599LAN: Latest software for TVB599LAN is available from ftp://ftp.teleview.com/TVB599LAN_v3_Windows/TVB599LANv3.zip for TVB599LAN v3/v4 or TVB599LAN.zip for TVB599LAN v1/v2 from ftp://ftp.teleview.com/TVB599LAN_v2_Windows/.

TVBAgent Firmware: Recover TVB599/LAN Firmware Using SD Memory Card for TVBManager

1. Prepare SD memory card or SDHC or SDXC memory card.

2. Format the SD memory card from the MS Windows or other OS from the PC as FAT (FAT16 or FAT32) file system. Do not use an NTFS file system.

3. Make folder "recov" on the top directory of the SD memory card.

4. Get file "TVB599LAN_Vx.x.x.TOT" from ftp://ftp.teleview.com/TVB599LAN_v3_Windows/TVB599LANv3.zip for TVB599LAN v3/v4 or TVB599LAN.zip for TVB599LAN v1/v2 from ftp://ftp.teleview.com/TVB599LAN_v2_Windows/.

Rename it to TVB599LAN.REC (for 597 and 599) and put to "recov" folder of SD memory card.

5. Turn off the TVB599LAN and install the above SD memory card into TVB599LAN.

6. Turn on the power of TVB599LAN. It will recover firmware automatically. It will take about 60 seconds.

7. Try to connect to it using TVBManager.

8. If this process does not fix, we will need to get the modulator back to us for an RMA.

Use TOOL / UPGRADE FIRMWARE menu to read TVB599LAN firmware version. TVBManager title bar shows TVBManager version number.

How to upgrade TVB599LAN v3/v4 firmware from TVBManager to ModulatorConsole.

This is a major upgrade and requires new remote control software (ModulatorConsole) after the upgrade.

UPGRADE FIRMWARE OF TVB599LAN V3/v4 FOR MODULATOR CONSOLE COMPATIBLE VERSION

1. Download a ModulatorConsole compatible firmware package for TVB599LAN v3/v4 from ftp://ftp.teleview.com/TVB59X_QT_599LAN/UpgradeModulatorConsoleFromTVBManager/TVB599LAN_5260.tar.gz file.

2. Execute the TVBManager.

3. Click [Tool] button on TVBManager, and [UPGRADE FIRMWARE] button.

4. Click [File] button.

5. Select [TVB599LAN_5260.tar.gz] file downloaded in step 1.

6. Click [UPGRADE] button. (Please do not power off, and wait about 8 minutes to complete upgrade. Green LED will turn on again.)

INSTALL MODULATOR CONSOLE APPLICATION ON PC

7. Download a ModulatorConsole.zip file from ftp://ftp.teleview.com/TVB59X_QT_WINDOWS/ and unzip it.

8. Execute install MC_installer.exe. ModulatorConsoleRemote icon will appear on desktop.

CONNECT TO TVB599LAN V3/V4

9. Execute ModulatorConsoleRemote to connect to TVB599LAN. TVBManager is not usable anymore.

10. Select TVB599LAN [xxxx ... xx] and click [Connect] button.

11. On ModulatorConsoleRemote GUI, Click [Remote] button.

12. Now you can use TVB599LAN v3/v4 device on ModulatorConsoleRemote GUI.

Downgrade TVB599/LAN Firmware from ModulatorConsole to TVBManager Version Using SD Memory Card

1. Prepare SD memory card or SDHC or SDXC memory card.

2. Format the SD memory card from the MS Windows or other OS from the PC as FAT (FAT16 or FAT32) file system. Do not use an NTFS file system.

3. Make folder "recov" on the top directory of the SD memory card.

4. Get the file from TVB599LAN.BIN from f ftp://ftp.teleview.com/TVB59X_QT_599LAN/Downgrade/TVB599LAN.BIN.

and put to "recov" folder of SD memory card.

5. Turn off the TVB599LAN and install the above SD memory card into TVB599LAN.

6. Turn on the power of TVB599LAN. It will recover firmware automatically. When the downgrade completes, the LED becomes green color.

7. Turn off and turn on the power of TVB599LAN.

8. Try to connect to it using TVBManager.

9. If you have TVB599LAN v4, update again using ftp://ftp.teleview.com/TVB599LAN_v3_Windows/TVB599LANv3.zip using TVBAgent Firmware: How to Upgrade Firmware from TVBManager procedure.
